WIAW #37: What’s in the Fridge?

Good morning! First thing’s first, I absolutely loved all of your comments on yesterday’s post! I always get a little nervous before publishing an honest (and somewhat controversial) post like that. And every time I do I’m rewarded with such supportive comments from you awesome readers! It feels so good to know I’m not alone. We’re all just doing the best we can, and spreading the love as much as possible when it’s deserved. A lot of you pointed that out–even if you know there’s no way you’ll have time to do a particular workout or make a specific recipe, that doesn’t mean you don’t wish you could. And you want to acknowledge the blogger for her awesome idea. I love it!

Ok—onto the usual Wednesday business. One of the many blog tasks we can choose to do or not, I typically like participating in this one. Thanks to Jenn for hosting!

Breakfast

Shocking! I am all out of eggs right now and I really don’t feel like grocery shopping, so no breakfast sandwich here. Actually, groceries are running pretty low all around right now. But I still managed to eat pretty well. A strawberry banana smoothie for breakfast.

I made my smoothie with vanilla Greek yogurt, half a frozen banana, frozen strawberries, protein powder, and almond milk. I brought it to the office since I was running late (as usual) and smoothies take forever to eat.

Morning snack

Lots of fresh cherries! I bought these in NH over the weekend and they were wayyyy more expensive than I thought they were. So I savored every little bite haha.

Lunch

Lunch was much more delicious than it should have been. Homemade chicken salad (shredded chicken, little mayo, little dijon mustard, dried fruit) scooped up with cucumber slices. I have no idea why this was so good but it was.

Afternoon Snack

Vanilla Greek yogurt with the last of my Bear Naked granola. I’m trying to be more frugal and buy the bigger yogurt containers instead of individual servings. The extra dishes are a bit of a pain, but it’s better for the environment and my wallet right? We’ll see how long this lasts lol.

haha! My new favorite hashtag. But seriously, I have no idea where this plank came from! I think doing it before my main workout may have helped. I also turned on some Pandora to distract myself. ADD probs.

After getting my plank on, I did a quick at home circuit workout (this one) then called it good. I need to get myself into a routine again and sign up for another gym!

Dinner

The last of my homemade jambalaya from last week. Delicious!

Dessert

I had to drive to my parents’ to drop something off, and I knew they had vanilla ice cream in the house.

I didn’t know they’d have bakery M&M cookies though! Heaven. Crumbled cookie + vanilla ice cream. I love summer.

And there you have it! Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone! And happy early 4th of July!!

Questions: What’s your random food combination that tastes way more amazing than it should? Ever paid more than anticipated for a food item? Seriously, I spent $13 on cherries! :-|
